Flashes of Hope

Flashes of Hope

Working with trade associations and their charitable partners has led to my participating in many worthwhile photography projects.  Flashes of Hope is one of the most emotionally charged and personally gratifying of these undertakings.  It is an experience in which you realize how fortunate you are; that the trials and tribulations of daily life, are quite miniscule in “the big picture”.

Flashes of Hope is a nonprofit organization that changes the way children with cancer see themselves through the gift of photography and raises money for pediatric cancer research.

You don’t get a second chance to capture once-in-a-lifetime moments.  Most of the photographers associated with Flashes of Hope are members of the American Society of Media Photographers (ASMP), the leading trade association for published and commercial photographers.

Each family is given the gift of world-class photography.  The portraits, taken by award-winning photographers, help children feel better about their changing appearance by celebrating it.  For families of terminally ill children, it’s especially important to have a portrait that preserves the beauty, grace, and dignity of their child forever.

Celebration of Smiles

Celebration of Smiles

On April 21st, 2012 Mark Vacker Photography will participate with an elite group of photographers around the country, in a very special portrait promotion. On that day I will be providing a wonderful opportunity for you to update portraits of yourself and any family members you wish.  In doing so, you will help support Operation Smile, which provides free surgeries for children around the world who suffer with cleft lips, cleft palates, and other facial deformities.

Along with other members of Professional Photographers of America (PPA), I am offering the gift of an individual portrait session and a desk-size portrait in exchange for a $24 donation to PPA Charities, which has chosen Operation Smile as its charitable partner.  For every 10 individuals I photograph, another child will receive the gift of corrective surgery!  It costs as little as $240 for Operation Smile’s medical volunteers to provide a life-changing surgery that can take as little as 45 minutes. 100% of each donation will go to Operation Smile.

I also believe that our Celebration of Smiles Day is a wonderful way to teach children the value of reaching out to others.  Even small children can understand the importance of Operation Smile’s work, and they are eager to help these needy children.  I hope you will join with us in helping to make this vital work possible.  I promise to create a portrait that you will treasure and “make the memory last forever”.

To schedule your session appointment, please call me today at (954) 604-1898.

“Light of Florida”

“Light of Florida” is a collaborative project created by the South Florida Chapter of the American Society of Media Photographers with support from the Central Chapter the ASMP.  The goal is to produce a premium coffee table book and Internet portfolio.  In creating this publication, we hope to promote Florida as the place to produce effective still and motion images for media of all kinds, and give exposure to the most creative and diverse group of photographers in the country.  The images feature people and places captured in the unique and varied natural light that makes Florida a great place to photograph and produce imagery of all kinds. All submissions were made by members of ASMP in Florida and judged by an impartial panel of media professionals.

We are seeking sponsors to partner with us in our goals.

Among our many benefits to you of sponsorship, included are:

  • Your name and logo linked to our “Find A Photographer” site, which our 6500 members participate in and is viewed regularly by the general public.

BEAUTY & BRAINS

"Mark Vacker is a family doctor turned photographer, and his bedside manners transfer to the studio. Professional yet warm, he does just the right things to make a model feel comfortable on the set. I would do another shoot with him any time."

Dinka :)

Hot off the press and I do mean hot!

This stunning woman from Latvia loves to make people smile, or is it, work on their smiles. It was a lot of fun photographing Dinka; the photo session was a blast.  I asked Dinka to write a few words about herself and her story goes like this:

“I am an Eastern European girl that likes to have fun and be serious when needed. I do absolutely anything for those that are close to my heart and look for kindness in others. I appreciate intelligent conversations, but humor is what keeps me going. I am a huge optimist and I love life and people.

I grew up in Riga, Latvia and was "brought" to the States by my mom when I was 16. I prefer to say I'm adapted, but I stand out.

I'm currently in my 3rd year of dental school at Nova Southeastern. I believe someday I will make a lot of people smile.

Hobbies: I read Scientific American and Vogue, scan through dental catalogs, and read weird non-fiction about black holes, emotional intelligence, and body language. Oh, I also run 20 miles a week, play tennis, and dance for fun.”
